Boot drive not detected
#1
Hello all,

I am an experience PC tech but I have run into this issue that I can't seem to fix. I am working of my friends HP Pavillion desktop. For some reason it just won't coldboot. Start the PC and it tells you to restart and select a bootable drive. Go into BIOS, then exit BIOS without changing anything and it boots fine. Restart it once it's running, boots fine. I have obviously checked the boot sequence, the HD with several test, the SATA cables. If anyone has any ideas I can try that would be great. Thanks for your time.

ok most important go to the hp website and search for the model computer you are using. find and update the bios firmware and that should help it.

Hi,
Boot device not found means it can't find a hard drive. Did you press F2 to run a diagnostics?

For solving an issue related to 'boot drive not detected'.
Bootable device not found issues are caused by the damaged or faulty hard disk. Therefore, it is suggested to test your hard drive.
If your hard disk has some bad blocks, the important thing is that you need to shield them. Windows built-in diagnostic tool CHKDSK can be used to shield bad blocks.
MBR is a part of computer boot hard disk which contains executable code to function as a loader for the operating system and it can help PC boot successfully.
